Overview
Stamp Duty in Malaysia is no longer viewed as merely an administrative requirement. With the implementation of the Self-Assessment System for Stamp Duty (SDSAS), businesses are now expected to assess, determine, declare, and manage stamp duty obligations with greater responsibility and accuracy.
Many organisations are still unaware that common business documents such as employment contracts, service agreements, tenancy agreements, loan agreements, intercompany agreements, and commercial contracts may attract stamp duty obligations and penalties if not properly managed.
Failure to comply may expose businesses to penalties, audit exposure, legal enforceability issues, and operational risk.
