OVERVIEW
The Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA) came into force in Malaysia with the objective of protecting the personal data of individuals with respect to commercial transactions.
The legal repercussion of breach of the PDPA is fine not exceeding RM300,000 and imprisonment not exceeding two (2) years.
In July, 2024, the PDPA amendment Bill was passed with eight (8) key points were added to ensure that the provisions to plug existing loopholes.
LEARNING OUTCOME
At the end of the session, participants will understand and comprehend the importance of the PDPA to their organization and develop a sense of purpose and commitment in ensuring that the seven (7) principles of PDPA are complied with and adhered to by their subordinates in the organization.
The participants will also be informed on the recent amendments made in July, 2024 and ensure the existing PDPA policies and procedures include these new amendments. The staff will also be able to train their subordinates on the PDPA implementation in their organization.
The management will be cognizant of the legal imposition of the PDPA requirements and needs to re-wire the policies and procedures in line with PDPA.
