Free Trade Agreements, Preferential Tariff and Certificate of Origin

The objective of this training is to provide the participants with a detailed knowledge of the various Regional and Bilateral Free Trade Agreements (FTA) that has been signed by ASEAN member countries and Malaysia and how these FTAs seek to promote trade, investment, economic development and enhance competitiveness of Malaysian exporters and importers with particular emphasis on Preferential Certificate of Origin (PCO) and claiming of Preferential Tariff.

The training will also seek to provide participants with the detailed knowledge of the Rules of Origin (ROO) required to be satisfied in order to obtain the Preferential Certificate of Origin (PCO) and its related procedures. Further the training will also highlight the customs procedures and formalities to be complied in order to claim of preferential tariff and the consequence of non compliance. It will provide an insight into areas of examination adopted by Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD) to verify the authenticity of PCO and related documentation. The program will also highlight Self Declaration and Self Certification Mechanisms and issues related to discrepancies in declarations.
